At Oakhill Nursery, we learn through play. We aim to provide a secure, stimulating and rewarding environment. Through a balanced curriculum and caring community, each child's abilities, talents and skills can be developed in order to achieve their full potential.
The nursery is full of learning opportunities. We enjoy exploring our environment, both indoors and out. Adults use observations and continual assessment in order to plan specific learning opportunities for your child. The children have a sustained period of time to engage in their own choice of activity and the adults help to consolidate their learning and are available to support the children’s learning.
We encourage children to learn social skills, good manners, sharing and taking turns. By the end of their time at Oakhill Nursery, we hope the children will be motivated to try a wide range of activities and are free to choose and try new experiences everyday. Children experience physical play both indoors and in our shared outside area. We have access to the outdoor environment in all weathers, so please dress your child in suitable clothes and shoes.
Book bag - we encourage children to bring their book bag to school everyday so that their artwork, creations and letters can be transported safely home. We also ask that you bring their library books back on the correct day.
Spare clothes - the children are busy learning through first hand experiences and can often get carried away in the digging area or water tray. We always try to make sure that they wear aprons but accidents do happen so please provide a set of spare clothes, which can be left on their pegs.
Uniform - your child is encouraged to wear the nursery polo shirts and sweat shirts. These are available to buy from Speed Stitch in Walthamstow.
