We hope everyone has settled back into the new school year and extend a warm welcome to the new parents, carers and children at Oakhill.
Last year was, once again, very successful and we were able to raise an outstanding £11,000!! A huge thank you to all who donated, volunteered and participated in all our events.
Our last event was the Summer Fun Day and as you can see from the photos – a
lot of fun was had by all. We made an awesome profit of over £3,085, which is to be increased due to Matched Funding…
Thanks to your support, FOSA has been able to make some valuable donations to our School. We have bought £500 of new books, funded gardening tools for the new Butterfly Garden, contributed to the cost of the Christmas Theatre trip for Years 2‑6 and paid for the Christmas Wizard Workshop for Nursery, Reception &
We met with Mrs Bull & Ms Barnes to focus our contributions and fund raising efforts on the development of the playground. The School is in the process of drafting a proposal for FOSA and the School Community to consider. All will have the option to see the plans once they are available and we will keep you updated with progress.
It was decided by the Committee to rest the cake sales for a year or so. In place of the funding from these, we have offered a contribution to each class teacher of up to £100 to purchase items for the classroom to enhance classroom areas/topics for each year group.
We Need You!
From April 2015 a significant number of the dedicated & most experienced members of FOSA will be stepping down. To continue to contribute to the School Community, put on the events & raise funds we need new members. Being part of the PTA is incredibly rewarding & the Committee is made up of a diverse bunch of people who dedicate their
skills & time where they can. Please volunteer if you can & get involved… let one of the Committee know you are interested or return the form below to the School Office… we really do need you!
Don’t forget to follow our regular updates on our FOSA/Friends of Oakhill School Association Community Facebook page!
Matched Giving or Matched Funding appears to be a well kept secret. Did you know there are hundreds of organisations throughout the UK, that offer their employees the chance to boost their individual fundraising efforts by 'matching' the money they raise for their chosen charity?
Large organisations often have established matched funding schemes but it can be adopted by any company no matter how big or small. It isn’t complicated and will cost you no more than asking your employer if they do or would be willing to, participate in a scheme.
We trialled Matched Funding at the Summer Fun Day with parent & Committee member Cindy Chisholm who works for Barclays Bank. Barclays kindly doubled the £1,000 profit we took on our refreshments stall!
Here are a few words about their Community Investment programme: Our employees are integral to the success of our ambition. In 2013, 71000 (almost half) were involved in volunteering, fundraising and giving activity.
Through our Matched Fundraising and Giving programmes, £35m was donated to charities. At Barclays we are really proud of our Community Investment programme. In 2012, we made a commitment to help change 5 Million Young Futures by 2015. We are achieving this by working with respected NGO’s and charity partners to develop the enterprise, employability and financial skills of disadvantaged young people.
A huge thank you to Cindy & to Barclays for this fantastic donation. If you think you and
your employer could help us in this way please speak to a member of the Committee
or fill in the form below. Thank you!
